Mother's Day.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. The sun shone bright, the sky was blue and my little baby girl woke up with the biggest smile on her face. I like to think she'll be a morning person, since she always wakes up happy first thing and even when it's early and I'm tired, it immediately perks me up to see her smiling and giggling.

I had a little extra sleep and took Pearl out for a leisurely walk, enjoying a bit of alone time.  We lazed at home all day in front of the TV, eating rice crispie treats and watching V try so hard to roll from her back to her front. She managed to do it for the first time last night as we cheered her on! I'm so proud!

Dinner was my choice and, while I completely went off of Mexican food during my pregnancy, I have had a craving for tacos lately that could not be sated. We took an evening drive to our old neighbourhood, stopping off for iced coffees on a very warm May evening.

We ordered the steak tacos, piled high with onion, thick wedges of lime and coriander, a herb I've really come to love over the last couple of years. I'd normally order the chicken tacos but there's something about this place and the steak, especially paired with spoonfuls of sour cream, that makes my mouth water just thinking about them.

After indulging in way too many tacos, we settled in for the night with the latest Game of Thrones episode before the wee one fell asleep in my arms. The perfect end to the day.

While we celebrate Mother's Day in March in England, I thought about my own Mumma too.  She was 26 when she had me, just like I am now with V. Our experiences have been pretty similar so far and it's so awesome to know I have her there for all my questions and give me advice, even though we're so far apart. I'm lucky to have such a rad family. Thank you Mumma Snr.!

I hope you all had a great day, whether you celebrated Mother's Day or just had an excellent Sunday!

Love, K.

Six Months.

I'm not entirely sure what happened. Six months vanished in the blink of an eye. The cold weather is sinking into memory, the sunshine warming our bones and bringing the world back to life again. My baby girl has hit the half year, almost 26 weeks old. It blows my mind.

Baby V can sit up all by herself, albeit with a wobble here and there. She is constantly moving, wanting so desperately to be able to crawl but not quite figuring it out yet. I have a feeling it won't be long though. She loves to bounce in her chair, marvelling at the colours, shapes and sounds that surround her. She talks so much and is always experimenting with her voice, making new sounds all the time. She can say 'Ma' and 'Da' and she knows who Pearl is when we say her name. Such a clever cookie!

I'm impressed by how well she eats, happy to try anything that is offered. While she wholeheartedly prefers fruits to vegetables, she's more than happy to tuck into an avocado with me! She likes mashed potatoes, bananas, apples and pears, tomatoes, carrots and she's partial to a spoon or two of rice. She's tasted tuna and chicken and had a go at feeding herself. That was messy, but fun too!

I can't believe she's already six months old. It's so exciting to see her grow and learn, every day one step towards that first crawl, her first word. I just wish it wasn't happening quite so quickly!

Happy half birthday baby girl :)

Love, K.
